Gregory C. Richter (Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri) has taught linguistics, German, Russian, Latin, French, and Chinese. Originally from California, he earned a Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of California, San Diego (1983). He has previously translated poetry in Icelandic and French, psychoanalytic works in German, and Buddhist scriptures in Tocharian. His translations from Chinese include a rendering of the Tao Te Ching (The Gate of All Marvelous Things: A Guide to Reading the Tao Te Ching, Red Mansions Publishing, 1998, distributed by China Books, San Francisco). Unlike other versions, the central aim of this rendering of the I Ching has been to supply a literal English translation for each Chinese character. Also provided are the contemporary standard pronunciation for each character and a clear English translation.
Taoist I Ching
A Taoist translation of the 1716 Yi by Gia-Fu Feng
at Stillpoint with Frank R. Kegan.
© 1986, 2007-2009 Dr. Frank R. Kegan

Gia-Fu was a true Chinese and a natural born Taoist who revered the I Ching as a Chinese Classic. He worked on translations of Taoist texts with the Stillpoint community. Frank R. Kegan brought to Stillpoint his experience with the Oracle of the I Ching and his involvement as a professional astrologer in his community back in Chicago. Gia-Fu took refuge in their work on the Taoist Translation of the I Ching from the chaos of American culture. By the end of summer 1974, their work on the I Ching was complete and Frank retired from Stillpoint with their unpublished manuscript in its Kinko’s copy shop paper bag until now.
Carol Anthony began her study of the I Ching in 1971. Two experiences in meditation guided her to publish her notes under the title, A Guide to the I Ching, and to found Anthony Publishing Company in 1979. She very quickly experienced that her book filled a unique need for people who were trying to understand the I Ching's counsel. Now in its third edition, this book was soon followed by The Philosophy of the I Ching (1981 and 1998. 2nd Ed.). The Other Way, Experiences in Meditation Based on the I Ching followed in 1990, and Love, An Inner Connection, Based on Principles Drawn from the I Ching, in 1993 (2nd Ed. 2002). Her books have since been translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Croatian. I Ching, The Oracle of the Cosmic Way, a collaboration with co-author Hanna Moog, was published in 2002.
I Ching book content in multiple languages is available within Yi Jing and is integrated with the Journal. Some content requires additional in-app purchase, as indicated below.
